2009 Application and Agreement

The strength of a region depends not only on the skills of the workforce, but on the skills of the workforce development system. To this end, the Southwest Ohio Region Workforce Investment Board sought and was granted funds from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. U.S. Bank Foundation with which to train Workforce Development professionals in the City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County, and the surrounding counties.

Focusing on assisting the Ex-Offender, this program combines the Offender Workforce Development Specialist training with the requirements for the Global Career Development Facilitator credential. The curriculum was developed by the National Career Development Association, and is highly regarded around the country. The Global Career Development Facilitator credential is recognized world wide. 45 professionals were accepted into the program after a very competitive application process. They began the intense training in late February, and will conclude in late May. Training has been spaced to allow for a sustained presence in the workplace, with this highly talented group continuing to assist those requiring support.

The Southwest Ohio Region Workforce Investment Board is pleased to offer this training opportunity, and to create opportunities for various organizations to come together to create a stronger network in Workforce Development for the area.
